While there are companies working towards annotation of images for defects/anomalies here is a Data Science approach to automatically annotate the defects.

The approach has been implemented for multiple data sets and have provided very good accuracy (>90%) in being able to identify the defects correctly. The approach also enables, one to identify the various types of defects. This solution thereby provides a very good input for the Deep Learning model building.
